Named after New Haven (Connecticut) home port of many Nineteenth-century sealing vessels, following the theme of sealers and sealing vessels in the South Shetland Islands. John Davis, Master of Huron (New Haven) landed on Low Island on 2 February 1821, with Charles Burdick, Master of Huntress. The cape contains a significant chinstrap penguin colony. 8672 13 L
