Island 3 km SW of Davey Point at the eastern edge of Usher Glacier, King George Island. Named after K.R. Gooden, who wintered at Admiralty Bay 1951 as Base Leader and Field Guide and whose work contributed to the topographic survey programme for King George Island. Previously as Field Guide and surveyor at Port Lockroy (winter 1950).
Previously known as Gooden Point, gazetteer amended 02 March 2020 following analysis of satellite imagery for map BAS (Misc) 14A, published November 2019, showing the feature was an island due to ice retreat. |
