Named after Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Lewin of Greenwich, KG, GCO, LVO, DSC (Terence Thornton Lewin) (1920-1999), Chief of the Defence Staff 1979-1982, member of the War Cabinet during the Falklands conflict, Chairman of the Trustees of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, and President of British Schools Exploring Society.
